New Fire Legislation came into force in October 2006 and replaced over 70 pieces of fire safety law. Companies are required to carry out their own risk assessment to ensure they are compliant with the regulations and to ensure that all staff receive adequate training. It also means that all businesses have to have a responsible person.
This role can be one which is carried out by the Fire Marshall or Senior Fire Marshall, whose job is to make sure that certain duties are carried out and that action is taken to both prevent fires and prevent injury or death if an actual fire occurs.
